All Our Children Meow and Woof

I created this blog to sort through my emotions as Finnegan, a great Irish Wolfhound, fought bone cancer for nearly 26 months. Fortunately, his battle subsided for many months and during the course of the 26 months, I shared stories about his feline siblings. On August 8, 2008, Finny passed on in my husband's and my arms. He fought the good fight and he will always have a special place in my heart. *If you have a question, please write me at finnegandog at gmail dot com.*

Project 365

Project 365 is when one posts a photograph on his or her blog every day of the year. You can see examples of others here and here.

This photograph is of Shrimpycat. She is our youngest meowing child. You will learn more about her soon.

Blogging Help!

Does anyone know how to move posts and archives from one blog to another? I have an old blog that is merging with this one and I want to put all the posts from the old blog onto this one.

Please read the description under the title of the blog to find out what is going on here!

Oh, and I promise, promise, promise, the emphasis of this blog will still be on the Big and Mighty Finnegan!

Snow Snow Snow Snow Snow

After two months of not much snow, we are getting a TON of snow. Although I just ran across my yard in the deep snow to visit my neighbor , it is not conducive for filming and romping around with my toys. As such, I must postpone the Finnegan Film Festival until the weather improves a little. For now, I will lounge with Mummy and Daddy in my warm house and catch up on some snoozing. Zzzzz.........

Paparazzi

Since posting my video, the paparazzi has been beating down my door requesting photographs and interviews. Really, it is becoming tedious. My schedule is busy now meeting with agents, public relations, and stylists. I simply cannot be interviewed by both Doggertainment Tonight and Access Doggywood on the same night. I have a photo shoot with Dogsquire magazine and then I will meet with Matt Lauer on the Today Show for an interview next week. Honestly, I would prefer Meredith Vieira or Ann Curry.

Because of the chaos in my life, I decided to hire a body guard. Meet Donald. He has extra toes and is good at punching out (or scratching) the cameramen who get too close to me. He's loud and he's not afraid to rough people up. In fact, he gets so into it, he forgets who he is supposed to protect and tries to rough me up. He's not too bright. This is photo of him pushing away someone from the paparazzi who was trying to take a picture of me while I pooped in my backyard. Does anyone have respect for privacy these days? Now I can empathize with Brittany Spears. I think I call her for drinks.

Snow!

Thanks everyone for stopping by and watching my big movie premiere! It is still snowing here and I love it! My favorite thing is to eat the snow and get my face in it. I am thinking Mummy will do another film starring me again soon now that she is getting the hang of it.

Any requests? I could just romp around again. I was thinking I could involve some of my fuzzy toys and show you all how good I am at getting them. Grrrrrrrr

Stop by again for another Finnegan Film Festival!

Cool Website, Good Cause

While perusing the internet, i.e. not working, I came across this cool website called Crafters for Critters. On the site they have different craft goods such as jewelry, clothing, and other fun stuff that are handmade. A certain percentage of the proceeds goes to animal organizations. If you are looking for a cool little gift for someone or yourself, I suggest checking this site out! The picture is from their Info page.

Red Carpet Event

Mummy's new camera came yesterday! That means once she gets a bigger memory card, she will make a movie with me and post it here for everyone's viewing pleasure! I would guess the movie will be online by Sunday. Further details to come!

Coming to a Theatre Near You!

Okay, maybe not in theatres but on this blog. Mummy is getting a fancy new camera and she plans on recording me in action. Running, romping, playing with my toys!

Perhaps I should make a poster for my movie and have a press conference! I could invite Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood to interview me. I would have to worry about the paparazzi following me around and taking my picture. I don't want to pull a Britney Spears while I exit my limo. Oh wait, I don't wear underwear. Never mind!

As soon as Mummy records me in action, I will put the footage here!

You Are Correct!

I am the fourth Irish Wolfhound from the left. You might not be able to see the little IW next to me. If I remember correctly, he had a rough start in life and did not grow up to be a BIG BRAWNY IRISH WOLFHOUND LIKE ME. Poor guy. He was cute though. I wore an empty Guinness can around my neck. Mummy wouldn't allow me to wear a full one because she was afraid I would drink it. She made the sacrifice and drank the beer. Someone had to do it.

Despite being in Salt Lake City, the Guinness can was still a winner and I received many cheers at the parade. The last time I went to a parade in my new hometown, I had many people ask to have their picture taken with me. What am I, a freak show? Ok, I suppose I am. This year if we go, I plan on charging them a small fee to go towards the "Finnegan Needs a Damn Leg" fund. Woof woof!

Hint

You can click on the picture to make it larger if it helps. I am wearing an important "rescue" device around my neck which is appropriate for my breed's nationality (instead of a barrel around a St. Bernard's neck).

Dressing Up

I like to show off my eccentric side sometimes. Actually, it was Halloween and I did have some antennas on but since my duckie toy was nearby, she thought it would make a good hat. Mummy does not dress me up the other 364 days in the year so don't worry! Unless, of course, you count bandannas I get at the groomers! Also, she does not normally put pasta on my head either like Chuckles! He is too patient, I would have eaten the pasta...

Today is cold and rainy. And muddy. *Sigh*

Humiliation

Breeze Update

Breeze's mum said that she had a clean CT scan yesterday and the veterinarian performed the surgery. So far, I think she is okay.

Think good doggy thoughts for a speedy recovery!!!

Another Wolfhound with Cancer

Yesterday, Mummy learned that there is another Irish Wolfhound who might face the same fight as me. Over at Handicapped Pets, a woman wrote in a discussion thread about her five year old Irish Wolfhound who might have her front leg amputated because of stupid stupid bone cancer. Grrrr. Her veterinarian will do a body scan to see if the cancer has spread. I hope it has not metastasized and she will do okay.

Thinking good wolfhound thoughts for you, Breeze!

Vote for the BIG GUY

Last month on December 13, 2006, I was Cool Dog Site of the Day [insert loud cheers and howling here].If you want to make a sick dog happy (seeking sympathy here, folks), you can go to Dogmark and vote for me for Cool Dog Site of the Month for December. I would be most happy and would send big Irish Wolfhound smooches and licks your way!

*Note from Mummy: Finny is extremely adept at begging with his big brown eyes looking longingly into mine. It's pathetic and I buy it every time.

This Dog Needs a Nanny!

I apologize for the lack of posts but Mummy left me without my computer. How rude. While Mummy and Daddy visited family for the holidays, the kitties and I were left with a petsitter. Normally, I am sad when Mummy and Daddy leave for vacation. Mummy said to say she is also sad when she leaves us and would take us with her except stupid fake mother-in-law does not like dogs. Jerk. I send dogbursts in her general direction.

This time was no exception, I did miss Mummy and Daddy. HOWEVER, I did have fun. My "petsitter" who I like to refer to as my nanny visited us at least three times per day and her small humans (children?) played with the kitties and me. One of the mini-humans had the most bestest idea ever: take ME for a walk!!!! It was so much fun to walk with a new person! Even though Mummy takes me for a walk almost every day now, she becomes so boring. She always wants to go in the same direction. *Yawn* Nanny and mini-humans walked a different path and I sniffed so many fantastic smells. Ahhhhhhh....

Mummy and Daddy returned with gifts and hugs. I slept with my head in Mummy's lap last night while she and Daddy watched TV. I love having them back. AND, they brought back gifts to give me. My favorite is the squeaky bear that Daisy slobbered all over before wrapping. I love toys used by other dogs.

My life is back to normal with Mummy and Daddy having returned and giving me lots o' love and attention. And by the way, because I am doing fairly well, I might let the kitty siblings write on this bloggy once in a while because they are very opinionated.

Happy New Year!! Whatever that means!
