Holy smokes - you really are well-read!
BTW, mom has read Life of Pi and it's a great read. Also a good read, though kind of difficult because the nature of the book, Night by Elie Weisel.
I second Boomer on Life of Pi. If you can get into the rhythms of the book, Dune and One Hundred Years of Solitude are great and idiosyncratic. Watership Down is great as an audio book-- easy to keep track of what's going on.
